2017Art in the Fields of Nanao — A Harvest of Culture and Creation
Ministry of Culture / Greater Nanao Leisure Agricultural Park / Nanao Township Office
“Art Grows in the Fields of Nanao”
A gathering of rare harmony.
Farm life × Mindful Yoga × Rice Harvesting × Artistic Celebration.
In the lush ecology of Nanao,
we invite participants to root their bodies into the breath of the land,
to feel the purity of its winds and the rhythm of its fields.
Through guided mindful yoga,
we slow the breath, soften the movement,
and allow body, breath, and spirit
to become one with the stillness and clarity that Nanao offers—
not as visitors, but as quiet kin.
Nanao Township—A Hidden Arcadia between Mountain and Sea
At the southernmost cradle of Yilan lies Nanao,
a secluded Eden untouched by industry—
preserved by its remoteness, native heritage, and vast public farmlands.
It remains one of Taiwan’s last pure lands.
To feel the beauty of Nanao,
one need only breathe deeply and lift one’s gaze to the sky.
Surrounded by towering mountains and the endless sea,
Greater Nanao reveals itself best on foot or by bicycle.
Stand among the rice fields and feel the wind from the peaks;
wander the coast, and let the gentle surf wash your footsteps.
By cycling through its tranquil roads,
you can gather every quiet gem of Nanao’s grace in a single afternoon.
Grains of Grace: An Evening Feast of Pure Rice
In the fields of Nanao, the feast begins with the song of grains—
each dish a celestial variation on the theme of rice:
Galaxy Rice Pudding, Honey-Starlight Pound Cake, Comet Mochi,
and an orchestra of vibrant vegetables, gently blanched or steamed,
preserving the pure sweetness of Nanao’s mountain spring waters.
A season of harvest,
a fragrance of abundance,
a banquet of life,
a table of gratitude.
Through the sacred art of dance and song, each dish becomes an offering—
reconciling with nature,
reuniting with others,
returning to the self.
Together, we savor the joy of shared existence,
and compose a radiant chapter of the “Nanao Grain Moon Festival.”
Zen Breath in the Fields: A Meditative Yoga Journey
Nanao, a sanctuary of thriving ecology, welcomes the union of nature’s harvest and meditative yoga. Here, the body listens—to the breath of the land, to the purity that flows from its waters and wind.
Through the quiet guidance of mindful breath and softened movement, we slow the rhythm of our being. Body, breath, and spirit begin to resonate in harmony with the untainted essence of Nanao—breathing as one, living as one.
